Immediate opening for an AI Data Scientist with a biotech company in San Diego, CA who possesses:
- Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Bioinformatics or similar
- 5+ years of hands-on programming experience using Python, R, Scala and a strong knowledge of systems-level development
- 3+ years of experience as a lead or supervisor
- Experience within biotech, pharmaceutical or healthcare industry highly preferred
- Experience with data visualization using Tableau or Power BI
- Experience with cloud computing platforms such as (Azure or AWS) and big data tools (Apache Spark, Hive, etc)

FULL DESCRIPTION:
The selected candidate will be responsible for:
- Develop and deploy advanced AI/ML models to analyze complex biological and clinical datasets.
- Lead the design and implementation of scalable data pipelines using Spark, Hive, or equivalent big data tools.
- Build interactive and informative data visualizations using Tableau or Power BI to communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including research scientists, clinicians, and software engineers.
- Serve as a technical lead, mentoring junior data scientists and contributing to strategic data science initiatives.
- Utilize cloud computing platforms (Azure or AWS) to manage, process, and analyze large datasets efficiently.
- Stay current on advancements in AI and data science and evaluate how emerging technologies can be applied to biotech use cases.
The selected candidate will also possess:
- Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
- 6+ years of hands-on programming experience in Python, R, or Scala, with a strong background in systems-level development.
- 5+ years of leadership or team lead experience in data science or related roles (open to candidates with slightly less depending on scope of experience).
- Experience working in the biotech, pharmaceutical, or healthcare industries strongly preferred.
- Proven expertise in data visualization using Tableau or Power BI.
- Proficiency with cloud computing platforms (Azure or AWS) and big data tools (e.g., Apache Spark, Hive).
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
- Familiarity with genomics, proteomics, or other -omics data.
- Knowledge of regulatory environments (e.g., HIPAA, GxP).
- Experience integrating real-world data from clinical trials or electronic health records (EHR).
Salary Range: $130k-$145k/yr
